Search Engine Optimisation

All website owners should familiarize themselves with the term "Search Engine Optimization (SEO)". SEO is the process and practice of optimizing your website so that it ranks well on search engine results pages (or SERPs). When someone types a word or phrase into search engines (like Google, MSN and YAHOO) looking for your product, you want to appear as high up on the results as possible.
Research shows that users will only click on the first three results that appear on a search engine results page. Every search result below the first three are considered "unattractive". For this reason it is important to engage in certain SEO practices to ensure that your website ranks highly for certain pre-determined keywords.
There are literally millions of other websites online and if SEO rules are not followed, you will not see major natural traffic on your site. The trick of SEO is relevance. The more relevant your site is for the keywords that have been searched, the higher your website will rank on a search engine results page.

Pay Per Click

Pay Per Click (PPC) is an advertising model used on search engines. Firstly the advertiser chooses keywords that match the business and products. When that word is searched by a user, the advertisers advert will be displayed in the sponsored results section on google.
However, the advertiser will only pay once the advert is clicked on by the user. Hence pay per click. This is one of the most powerful forms of advertising since you are reaching your targeted audience and you would only pay once and only one the advert has been clicked on. Unlike TV, radio and billboards where you pay a fixed fee irrelevant of results, the PPC model ensures that your money is invested wisely.
